Effects of Methoxyflurane Anesthesia and Surgery on Post-operative Renal Function inn Man and Re-evaluation of Methoxyflurane(Penthrane) Anesthesia Based on 30 eases of personal experience

Abstract

|
Clinical experience of 300 cases of methoxyflurane (Penthrane) anesthesia admi￢nistered personally for 3 years period during 1973-1975 are reviewed. The author believes that penthrane is to be used mainly for anaigia for delivery, dental anestheia, anesthesia for minor outpatient surgery and for control of cacern pain besides the surgical anesthesia. For these purposes, analgizer or cyprane inhalor are safe, simple and fairly effective and can be. used by those people who have no anesthesia training.
Among of cases, the effective of methoxyflurane anesthesia and surgery on postoperative renal function were studied in 20 patients. The following items were measured sach other day for 5 days: urinary output, Na, K, creatinine in blood and urine, serum and urine BUN, SCOT, and SGPT. The wide variations of the data demonstrated no significant untoward reaction in the patients.
